NIKOLA TESLA REMEMBERED

27. June 2006, 19:52 | by WD Milner | Full Article |

He is one of the greatest inventors, engineers and scienttists in history, and all too often unknown or overlooked.

Nikola Tesla was a pioneer in the fields of electric power, power distribution, alternating current and static electricity. He has inspired hundreds if not thousands of engineers and yet remains relatively obscure to the general populace. The Serbian-American's life and accomplishments have placed him the halls of engineering honour with many great minds - including the rival whose name eclipsed his for so many years, Thomas Edison.

It is perhaps appropriate then, that recently an art exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of his birth opened at the Serbian and Montegrgro embassy in Washington DC, USA. "Capturing The Light: 150 Years of Nikola Tesla - Reliefs and Paintings" by Serbian artist Dejan Jovanovic opened this past week and runs until the seventh of July. The exhibition goes on tour in September to Boston, New York and Chicago followed by a trip to London's Royal Society of Eectrical Engineers in November to finish up afterwards in Belgrade and the Nikola Tesla Museum.
