AUCTION TIPS FOR eBAY

23. May 2006, 03:35 | by WD Milner | Full Article |

Here are a couple of suggestion to help improve you chances of winning an eBay auction. While there are never any guarantees, a bit of forethought can improve your odds.

Place a bid for the highest amount you are willing to pay from the very start. eBay doesn’t show your maximum limit and will automatically bid for you in the appropriate increment to maintain you as top bidder until you either win the item, or reach the maximum you set.

If the latter happens, you will receive a notice by e-mail that you have been outbid, and you can decide if you want to increase your maximum or not. Using the Proxy to bid can also help you stay within budget by helping to inhibit impulse bidding, and can help with bidding at times it would be inconvenient for you to be on-line.

The majority of people bid nice round numbers so when you bid, use an unusual amount, including a cents amount over the fifty cent mark (eg $13.67). I have lost auction by a single cent and while I still lose sometimes it's usually by a larger margin.

When you are looking for items you want, try searching for common mis-spellings of the items. Such are not uncommo and they usually have a much smaller number of competing bidders who search for the proper spellings.
